Sitkin Labs
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the CivicMapper mobile application (the “App”), operated by Sitkin Labs / Great Sitkin Technologies (“Sitkin Labs,” “we,” “us”). By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. License
Subject to these Terms, Sitkin Labs grants you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your own non-commercial use. The App is licensed, not sold. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the App, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law. You may not rent, sublicense, or provide the App as a hosted service to third parties.
2. The Service
CivicMapper is a client-side application for inspecting U.S. civic geography and recording places you have been. Depending on the build and your entitlement, that includes jurisdiction lookup, a visited-places map, on-device GPS track recording (including optional background tracking), and import/export of your own track files.
The App does not require an account. There is no Sitkin Labs user database for App content. Tracks, visited-place records, imports, and similar data live on the device unless you export them. You are responsible for backups and for any files you choose to share.
3. Location
The App uses location to resolve jurisdictions and, if you enable tracking, to record GPS trails. Background location is used only when you explicitly turn on continuous tracking. You can disable location access or continuous tracking at any time in the App or in system settings. Location permission is optional for some features and required for others; refusing permission may limit functionality.
4. CivicMapper Pro Subscriptions
Some features are gated behind CivicMapper Pro, an auto-renewable subscription. Purchase unlocks those features in the binary; it does not create a hosted account or a data-storage contract with Sitkin Labs.

- Monthly: one (1) month, currently US$0.99
- Yearly: one (1) year, currently US$7.99
A one-week free trial may be offered as an introductory offer to eligible new subscribers, as configured in the App Store or Google Play. Trial eligibility and remaining trial time are determined by Apple or Google, not by Sitkin Labs.
If a free trial is offered and you are eligible, you will not be charged until the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. After the trial, or if no trial applies, payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price. You can manage or cancel the subscription in device subscription settings (iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Apple or Google is the merchant of record for store purchases. Billing, taxes, refunds, and cancellation are handled under that store’s terms. Sitkin Labs cannot cancel an App Store or Play subscription on your behalf.
Restore Purchases re-links an existing store entitlement to the current install. Promotional or complimentary access, if granted, is discretionary and may be revoked.
5. Geographic Data; No Official Record
Jurisdiction labels and boundaries are derived from public datasets (including U.S. Census Bureau geocoding and related geographic files) and from on-device processing. They are a convenience view, not a cadastral survey, legal description, electoral roll, or official government determination. Do not rely on the App as the sole source for legal, tax, voting, emergency, or navigation decisions. Verify critical facts through official channels.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the App, including by attempting to disrupt it, scrape or republish bundled geographic assets at scale, bypass feature gates, or use the App in any way that violates applicable law. The App is intended for personal mapping and reference, not for covert surveillance of other people.
7. Third-Party Services
The App may call third-party services, including the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder, Apple App Store / StoreKit, Google Play Billing, and a third-party in-app purchase platform used to validate receipts and entitlements. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Sitkin Labs is not responsible for third-party outages, catalog delays, or store-side product availability.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, its name, UI, and original code are owned by Sitkin Labs. Public geographic datasets remain subject to their source licenses and attribution requirements. You retain rights to GPS tracks and other content you create or import; you grant Sitkin Labs no license to that content beyond what is required to run the App on your device.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SITKIN LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that jurisdiction data, GPS tracks, or maps are complete, current, or error-free, or that the App will be uninterrupted.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SITKIN LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO USE CIVICMAPPER PRO IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR TEN U.S. DOLLARS (US$10) IF YOU HAVE PAID NOTHING.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
11. Changes and Termination
We may update these Terms from time to time. The Effective Date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or Pro features. Your license ends if you violate these Terms or if you delete the App; store-managed subscriptions continue until canceled with Apple or Google.
